What is EMDR and How Does It Help with Trauma Healing?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy designed to help individuals heal from trauma and distressing life experiences. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR focuses on reprocessing traumatic memories to reduce their emotional charge and help individuals move forward with greater emotional freedom.

When we experience trauma, our brain can struggle to process the event fully, leaving the distress “frozen” in our nervous system. These unprocessed memories can manifest as anxiety, depression, flashbacks, or other symptoms. EMDR helps the brain reprocess these memories in a safe and structured way.
